A Tribute to the two remarkable ladies Who Changed My Life

Sometimes, we come across people who leave a mark on our lives so deep that no amount of gratitude feels sufficient. I want to honor two remarkable ladies who did just that for me. Patricia Thompson and Deborah MacNeil. For five years, after a life-altering accident. These ladies volunteered their time, energy, and creativity to bring light and hope into my new life through art therapy.

Every week (even through covid with virtual sessions) without fail, they came to my home with fresh ideas, patience, kindness, and unwavering support. These sessions were so much more than creating art—they were an anchor. They reminded me that even in the hardest of times, there’s still room for joy, purpose, hope, and self-expression.

Through their guidance, I rediscovered parts of myself I thought I’d lost. They helped me find meaning when life felt overwhelming and gave me the courage to explore my emotions through creativity. In moments when I felt confined by my circumstances, they reminded me that my imagination was limitless and I could do anything through art.

Their selflessness and compassion were a beacon of hope for me, and I will always treasure the memories we created together.

I regret that I didn’t express my gratitude sooner, especially during an event where I had the chance to publicly thank them. I want to take this moment to acknowledge how deeply sorry I am for that missed opportunity, and I hope this tribute conveys just how much they mean to me.

Patricia Thompson and Deborah MacNeil who gave me five years of their time and heart: thank you for everything. You didn’t just help me create art—you helped me create a life filled with beauty and meaning, even when I couldn’t see it myself. Without you my art Journey would not be where it is today.

Your kindness changed me, and I will carry that with me forever.
